“Care and maintenance”

Tom Stone Quartz materials are durable, quality, and well-polish. We guarantee to provide you with peace of mind with scratch, heat, and stains resistant. However, Tom Stone Quartz ARE NOT scratch, heat, and stains proof. We want you to be happy with the countertop materials you chose for your home. Since our entire collection requires simple and routine care to maintain its quality, the following descriptions and guidelines will help you to properly maintain the surface in the best condition possible for future years.

Scratch Resistant

Tom Stone Quartz achieves scores between 5-7 on the Mohs scale of hardness, making them strong enough to prevent scratches. However, it is highly recommended to always use a cutting board for food preparation and avoid abusing the surface with sharp objects such as knife and drill head.

Do not hit or impact the surface with heavy and or sharp objects.

Heat Resistant

Our countertops are designed to uphold moderate heat, however they are not heat proof. Surfaces can be damaged by any sudden or prolong exposure to high temperatures, which can also result in cracks on the edges of the material.

It is highly recommended to use heat pads to minimize direct heat on the countertop from cooking appliances to prevent heat shocks, discolouration, cracks or other damages. In addition, DO NOT expose the surface to any open flame, which is why we always recommend using a heat pad.

Stains Resistant

All the non-porous materials offered by Tom Stone Quartz have a strong layer of coating applied which repels liquid from getting beneath the surface; juice, sauces, coffee, etc. If spillage does occur, immediately wipe them off with a non-abrasive pad.

In the case of ink stains, you may clean the stain with a wet cloth and erase with a magic eraser. If the stains still exist, prepare powder cleanser at 1:0.5 ratio. Soak the prepared powder cleanser on the surface for about 5 minutes and clean the stain with a brush. Finally, clean with water.

The surface can be permanently damaged from exposure to strong chemicals and solvents. Please avoid using products containing methylene chloride as they may damage the protective coating.

Maintenance & points of attention

Tom Stone Quartz provides the highest level of resistance in many of our materials. Generally, you will not require any annual maintenance, but if chemicals or liquids come into contact with the countertop, immediately wipe them off.

Daily cleaning of the surface (warm water and soap - non abrasive material) is recommended to avoid dirt from building up over time and possibly staining. A 1:5 ratio of cleaning solution (1 part mild detergent, 5 part warm water) is suggested if you are planning to use detergent.

Do not use corrosive cleaning products such as bleacher, preservative, alkalinity, xylene, toluene, potassium hydroxide, caustic soda, or methyl chloroform to clean the surface.

Long term and direct sun exposure may affect its’ surface glossiness.

Do not attempted to remove and re-install counters without the help from professional installers to prevent damages and crack on counter.
